Hi Sylvestre,

If you initially create small datafiles the creation will be faster. However the adding of new extents to the datafiles if you add the auto extend option will require time as well. And probably more time than when you create the datafiles with the right size. But you may not notice this because I suspect the overhead of adding extents may be negligeble compared to the time the adding of the actual data must take (1TB). You might consider a large extent size for the datafiles so you don't have them extended too often.
BTW I presume that this is a locally managed tablespace in 9i.
