The version of it is 10.1.0.3, its 10g release1. I am trying to restore it to a different box with a different database name and with a single instance.
The error message I got is like the following

RMAN> restore controlfile;

Starting restore at 13-JAN-06
allocated channel: ORA_DISK_1
channel ORA_DISK_1: sid=271 devtype=DISK

channel ORA_DISK_1: restoring controlfile

ORA-19624: operation failed, retry possible
ORA-19625: error identifying file /remote_backup/CMDR/cmdr.ctl
ORA-27047: unable to read the header block of file
SVR4 Error: 25: Inappropriate ioctl for device Additional information: 2
ORA-19600: input file is controlfile (/remote_backup/CMDR/cmdr.ctl) ORA-19601: output file is controlfile (/oradata14/CMDR/control01.ctl) failover to previous backup

I have checked all owner and access mode to give it full access to those backup files.

Thanks in advance. Received on Fri Jan 13 2006 - 10:11:25 CST
