Hi Sybrand,

              Actually my user is OPS$XXX_XXX which is our client name, so i can reveal that that's why i wrote as OPS$ORACLE.... the Os user xxx_xxx , which i am using does not belong to dba group.

       i created the user by using " create user ops$XXX_XXXidentified externally

                                                default tablespace data
                                                 temporary tablespace
tmp;
                                         grant create
session,dba,manager,client to ops$XXX_XXX;" So its not a password file mechanisum one ..
