        OTOH, I know another retailer that's seriously considering mysql for their store applications. Informix is seen as a deadend. While they're updating to the latest release for their current installations, they are actively seeking out a platform to migrate to.

        The fact that they're using today just means that these types of companies are prone to inertia. The observed conditions don't necessarily indicate a satisfiaction level with the support prospects for Informix.
