If you want to leave 3 days of archive logs on disk -- that's cool; but I don't think the delete input is a critical point of failure if you have a good backup strategy. I was merely trying to suggest simply using the OS to remove archive logs may not be a good idea. You have to interrogate Oracle/RMAN to ensure you have it backed up before blindly deleting archive logs > 3 days.
