All I know is when a customer had their database on RAID 5, a 160 million record table (+ 3 indices) took 36 hours to reload/rebuild. When they switched to RAID 0+1, it only took 12.

An important point that many people miss is that all databases will periodically require maintenance. If it can not be done w/out spilling over into "production time" you are asking for trouble. Received on Tue Dec 06 2005 - 11:02:38 CST
