Planning ahead of time before systems and data volumes grow substantially larger is a skill that all competent DBA's need to master.

Now the measuring sticks of what "substantially larger" means has changed a lot recently.

Tom Kyte along with Jonathan Lewis have several good books that you may want to look at.

Changing from an OLTP environment to a Data Warehouse type of setup is a big migration. There are a bunch of good books on planning and designing Data Warehouses. I will leave specific recommendations to others. Received on Mon Dec 05 2005 - 15:20:46 CST
