DB2 for z/OS is one product. DB2 for Linux, UNIX, and Windows is a different product. Not sure what you mean by "all these platforms." There is a very high level of degree of compatibility at the DML level to make porting applications relatively easy, but they are different at the DBA level.

There is not necessarily a benefit to that, but that is just how things evolved over time. They were developed by two different development labs in different parts of IBM. At that time 17 years ago, each hardware division developed their own software. Received on Sun Nov 27 2005 - 13:52:33 CST
