  1.   Which Oracle version?
  
  2.   Can you post the query please?
  
  3.   Have the tables been analyzed recently? (assuming you're not running
RBO)

  
  4.   Can you post the execution plan?
  
  5.   A nested loop does not happen only when "there is not enough space
to do the join".
