Ok now I see the OP  "but want to insert numbers in ascending order".



Before considering and suggesting the ORDER clause for a sequence as an
oracle implementation, my recommendation would be to ask "what exactly
does the business application require" to meet the "ascending order"
part.



I don't think the OP supplied enough information to make more than
guesses at this point.
