Hello,

we have a serious problem with Oracle Reports on one of our clients' systems (technical details as following):

Server OS: MS WinXP Pro, Version 2002, SP2 installed
Server DB: Oracle 9i Server (9.2.0.1.0)
Client OS: WinXP Pro, Version 2002 (with or without SP2)

Forms 6i: Forms / Server / Runtime (6.0.8.23.2) Reports 6i: Reports / Server / Runtime (6.0.8.23.0)

As soon as the customer tries to run a report (either directly on server or from clients that also have SP2 installed), a windows error shows up which contains the following information:

"Reports Background Engine caused an error and had to be closed !"

Details on the problem signature are:

AppName: rwrbe60.exe
AppVer: 3.0.0.0
ModName: ca60.dll
ModVer: 0.0.0.0
Offset: 00027783

Considering that only clints with SP2 (and the server which is also on SP2) encounter that, advises that it seems to be some kind of problems with that service pack ... however we have a test pc in our company (for that customer) which works fine with exactly the same environment (Win XP Server with SP2 and Oracle 9i Server / Client on it) which leaves me kind of perplexed.

I alrdy tried to find something about that issue on MS support base / Oracle metalink but did not really see anything that could help us ... same when you search in forums or google (found some stuff about probs with rwrbe60.exe but not in combination with XP / SP2) ... any idea or hint would be appreciated - thx in advance !
