Check the following in the non-primary node(s)

  1. ownership and permission of $ORACLE_BASE and $ORACLE_HOME
  2. if /etc/oratab has been updated
  3. $ORACLE_BASE/admin/<NEW_SID> directory and its subdirectories created

There are various bugs with DBCA. On some platforms, you want to choose "Create New Database" rather than picking a template.
