Oracle 9i R2, 10g R1 run just fine for me on RHEL 3 ES on a box with 4 GB of memory and 2 physical processors (with hyperthreading enabled). Oracle 10g R2 tested just fine for me on RHEL 4 ES (32 bit).

How many physical CPU cores do you intend to deploy on? How much physical memory do you intend to deploy on? What kind of support response time and window do you require from Red Hat?

Look into seeing if your server hardware vendor (OEM) resells RHEL - you might find a discount if its bundled with the server.
