  I have not checked that .. but It is better if you can take every service which is using
  that ORACLE_HOME

  like Database + LISTENER + ORACLE HTTP SERVER + etc ...   It is matter of just 15 minutes ..

  And while applying patch that is REQUIRED all the services should be stopped.

  I had 1 incident where I did not stop listener while applying patch and It got corrupted
  my ORACLE_HOME. Received on Fri Nov 04 2005 - 07:53:19 CST
