Regarding TOAD : what version do you have ? I had problems with 10g and TOAD versions lower than 8.5, now i'm using 8.5 + Oracle 8i client + Oracle 9i client + Oracle 10g client all on the same workstation (Windows 2000 Professional) but in different Oracle homes of course. TOAD finds all homes and switching between them works fine.
