First I saw on the download page was roughly mid-August and that was for Linux. I posted elsewhere in this thread that the Windows port was ready for download Sept 8. All of them happened within a month - where the OS was considered production. (AFAIK there were some issues in stability of the OS libraries for 64 bit Linux which may be the cause of the delays in Oracle on 64-bit Linux.)

Given that Oracle provides some graphical UI tools and the UIs have significantly different APIs, I could personally justify a 2-3 week 'additional testing' cycle under the WIndows platform. Which: would indicate the difference may have nothing to do with the database at all; may be irrelevant; is pure speculation.
