It's easy to prove. DB2 for Linux, UNIX, and Windows issues releases and
fixpacks at the same time for every operationg systme they support. Oracle
never does that, and sometimes is a year behind in releasing the same code
on all OS's. I am not talking about add-on features, but the basic database
servers.

I use Oracle 10g, release 1, which is hardly outdated. On DB2 and Oracle I
know what configuration to use so that everything works well. The only thing
that I don't have control over is the SQL, so that is what gets most of my
attention. I rarely find problems that are not SQL or SQL access path
(indexes, etc) related.
