Buy Robert Freeman's RMAN book and read it a couple of times from cover to cover.

He does cover RAC backups in there.

As other people have noted you ONLY backup the database (once) NOT each instance separately (twice or more)!

The biggest complication in doing RAC backups thru RMAN is handling the archive log files there are several options and ways of making sure that archive logs from all instances are available on the node where you are running the backup from. Received on Sun Oct 23 2005 - 14:35:20 CDT
