Matthias,

It seems you were on the right direction from the beginning and my lack of knowledge about Oracle installations made me discard it too quickly.

On deeper investigation I've found this explanation on: http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=277341&tstart=0

"SYMPTOM:
OracleDbConsoleXXXX (i.e. OracleDbConsoleorcl) will not start. You see an error in the event log stating that there was a an error during initialization, and please lookup up the information on error code 2.

PROBLEM: Oracle's Enterprise Manager, when it is starting up, is looking for a folder whose name contains an IP address that matches the IP address your machine had at the time you installed Oracle. If your IP address changes, the service cannot find the needed directory.

SOLUTION/WORKAROUND: Change your IP address back to what it was when you installed Oracle.

In my case, I was disconnected during install, so removing my network card before starting the service does the trick.

After the service is started, you can reconnect. "

Since my cable modem wasn't connected to Internet when I installed Oracle DB and when I first rebooted the PC, that "Folder with the IP" had to be the same one. However after the second reboot I was connected to Internet so the OracleDbConsoleorcl service couldn't start.

If I do what it has been proposed in this forum I can start the service, however, when I go to the http://localhost:5500/em I am getting this error

The second location is actually a link which obviously point to: http://localhost:5500/em/console/logon/logon;jsessionid=3e39892f157c84f17639a742437e9ef8f8cfefdd0ffb

There I can see the normal Enterprise Manager logon screen. However, no matter which combination of user/password I try, I always come to a screen similar to the previously described but with different link:

The second link leads me to the first screen but with different numbers so I got stuck into some infinite loop of em logon screens and links.

Any ideas about how can I get finally into Enterprise Manager?

TIA,
