It's all Daniel Morgan's fault 8-). If you follow the thread, the original post to which I replied was him talking about MS SQL Server using vast amounts of CPU. I was just reminding the group that in CPU terms (and RAM), Oracle is no slouch when it comes to using resources. Now, as to whether it's the best use of those resources....

And Daniel was comparing his big gas guzzler with another manufacturer's gas guzzling vapourware. Oracle afficionados may criticise their opponents for many things, but resource hogging is not one of them.

some clues, like operating system, version of db being used and DDL.
The exact text and/or number of error messages is useful (!= "it didn't work!").
