Tiffany, the object should be protected by an enqueue.  The library
cache pin covers the shared pool.  What does v$session_wait show that
sessions are waiting on?



How many megabytes of space does this insert equate to and what
percentage of you undo (rollback) space allocation will this consume
for a transaction?



Have you tried to run a statspack report during one of these events?
