It has been desupported, which is not the same thing as no longer supported. "ES will be provided until 31-DEC-2007, if the customer has a current support contract in place." - see metalink Note: 148054.1 for details.

Note:117048.1 explains how to do the upgrade. Very simply: Backup
Uninstall standard
install enterprise
run catalog and catprod.

You might also want to search for documents and posts in this newsgroup that explain how to fully uninstall, I've never been convinced it is easy on Windows.
