I would concurr with the suggestion to use SAME, but would still recommend separate file systems / partitions (you don't say if this is for Windoze or *nix). Even with hardware/os level striping and mirroring eventually smearing everything across the same set of spindles, you want to separate your multiplexed files (control files and redo logs) to avoid loss of all copies through "operator error".
