I agree with everyone, especially hpuxrac.

The thing is a lot of hiring manager will be too scare to hire someone just
learn from "theory" not experience to run their DB/site.(production site).

I used to hire some junior people to help me before (I am oracle dba lead myself), so
I know what kind of people I want to help me.

One good way to enter the "dba industry" is to be a SQL (or PL/SQL) developer using Oracle in some company for a while. Sometimes, if the group is small enough, then you get to move to the development DBA role
or you could be developer and doing some Oracle DBA work at the same time.
And then some company might even pay some oracle classes for you.
(you probably has to work there for a while).
Reading this newsgroup and trying out new things in Oracle on a linux system
(at home) to practice is good too.
