I have an oracle instance with one database. I am about to add a database. It has completely different purpose than the first one. I am not sure what would be best, to add a new instance or have the new database in a new schema in the old instance. With one instance I save memory and total backup size will be smaller, right? but if that one instance crash it takes down both db's and recovery time might be longer. What more to consider to be able to make a correct decision?

Existing data uses just a little bit less than 2GB. The new one will not be bigger. Oracle version 10.1.0.4
