Ok then you have an answer that could be verified.

One could have updates and inserts going in on both sides and then do a database recovery.

So if the database instances can be 10 minutes out of synch with each other, what does that mean to you?

If any part of your application cares and records system time into oracle tables, you could have problems.

If you have an application that has absolutely no dependency on system time then you could run such an application on rac systems that are 14 and a half minutes apart ... why would you want to do such a thing?

There are time synchronization services that everyone uses for computer systems that prevent nodes in a cluster from getting far apart. Even linux when it installs offers a screen to setup this for you. Received on Mon Sep 19 2005 - 07:07:34 CDT
