1. Do not expect to be offered a position as a lone DBA, you will probably end up working in a team.

2. Do not expect to be anything more then help desk, or Jr. DBA for at least 2 years.

3. Do not expect anything much above 40 - 55k in pay, for your first 3 years, and be flexible enough to take it, when offered.

4. Do, try to get in with medical or financial company's. Aerospace is another good one to shoot for, but hard to get in the door of.

And lastly, hope like hell, your job does not get off shored to some third world country, with fourth rate support.
