It sounds to me like you have "political" issue; not a technology issue. Therefore the only viable solution is a mutually agreeable compromise.

The non-DBAs are free to give "help".
The DBAs are free to ignore the advice.

Just as PHBs can't keep DBA out of the application data stored in the DB, DBA's can't keep System Adminstrators away from the alert log files.

You might want to ask these "helpful" folks that since they are so knowledgable about Oracle's inner workings, when they will be joining the DBA's on call/after hours duty rotation. Received on Fri Aug 12 2005 - 20:14:56 CDT
