Recommend not using RAID5 unless on an Apple XServe RAID. Recommend using ASM with hardware RAID.

There is a white paper on the PSOUG web site, www.psoug.org that will give you a way to gain experience with ASM on any machine. Assume your first few attempts with ASM will be a learning experience.
