There are multiple bugs related to turning on timed_statistics and/or sql_trace in 8.1.5. and 8.1.6. Bugs like non-sharable sql, parallel query CTAS and table corruption and various ORA-600 errors have been reported.

I guess you probably already know that 8.1.5 was one of the buggiest versions of oracle.
