Ya, I think lots of more info is needed like:
- The DBA should give an estimate on database size...how many
tables,indexes, how much data in it etc
- If archive log mode than arhives also need space.
- Some times backups are also stored on server..though this is not
best to do..that needs space.
- Always better to be optimistic and have much more that what the
estimate is...actually as work goes on they come up with more and more
things that are unplanned..So I would ask for a lot ( may be 20-30 gb)
for unplanned works...
