I use Delphi regularly, mostly as a RAD GUI tool to a db backend on Unix boxes, so writing dll's isn't possible.

  1. what is it you want the function to do?
  2. you'd probably get better responses on the borland newsgroups (newsgroups.borland.com), very high signal to noise ratio.

borland.public.delphi.sqlservers would be my choice.

c) out of curiosity, what components do you use to access Oracle? What decided it for you?

When asking database related questions, please give other posters 
some clues, like operating system, version of db being used and DDL.
The exact text and/or number of error messages is useful (!= "it didn't work!").
