OK, I found the official Oracle recipe:

  1. Execute runInstaller with the -ignoreSysPrereqs option.
  2. Select 'Do not create a starter database' when installing Oracle 10g.
  3. During installation, the warning mesage 'SUNWsprox package not installed' can be ignored. Press Continue installation.
  4. Add this line in the init.ora parameter file (patch will be released soon):_enable_NUMA_optimization=FALSE
  5. Download and install patch 4163208 from metalink.oracle.com
  6. If you have an End User Solaris 10 Distribution, install the SUNWuiu8 package prior to installing the 10g Client.

I tried to follow the instructions after using OUI to do a virgin install of 10g on Sun V480/Solaris 10.

The result of executing 'opatch apply' in the patch directory was, in part: "This Oracle Home does not have components/versions required by the patch. ERROR: OPatch failed during pre-reqs check."

There was no indication of what the missing components/versions might be. Did OUI "forget" something? Does anyone have any thought on what might be missing?

Thank you.
