Since I just bought my wife a new box, and then discoverd XP is a pig, I have to disagree there.

Agree with this but: What is safe?

Oversizing SGA can cause problems too. Things have to wait around while too much housekeeping gets done. Memory usage outside the SGA can add up faster than expected.
