Many of us who are using RAC in the 9i Release 2 world are pondering how to proceed into the 10g world.

We use hpux with service guard to provide the clustering, along with emc and raw devices. This works very well.

In the 10g release 2 world, one has choices about using our os vendor or not to provide clustering software. Also do I want oracle to provide services that emc is now doing very well? Do I want to keep using raw on emc luns or not?

Right now we rely on oracle for support of the database related software. Wish I could report total satisfaction with our level of support.

Do we really want to roll the dice and rely on oracle for not only the database software but other stuff as well?

How well does oracle support the various platforms and all the different combinations of complicated pieces parts?

Those are all good questions that I am just starting to look at. Received on Tue Jul 05 2005 - 10:48:55 CDT
