Why in the world do you need to lock a whole table in Oracle?

Ampliy/clarify "accessing"; which is NOT a keyword in SQL; ie. SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE, etc Received on Sat Jun 18 2005 - 09:12:10 CDT
