You are so far wrong it isn't funny.

At the moment you have TWO users who can ACCESS EACH OTHER'S DATABASES AS SYS by virtue of their Linux user group. THIS IS NOT SECURE.

Two schemas would be JUST as secure, or more so, for the data as the two INSTANCES you now have, and the associated users would NOT have DBA privileges, thus keeping them from accessing data each should not see.

You've missed the ENTIRE point of the discussion thus far, and you have a nagging propensity to leap first and look later. This configuration you currently have needs to be dismantled and re-thought BEFORE you decide to implement ANYTHING.

And, before you do, hire a competent professional to handle these duties, as you have shown yourself unfit.
