too bad you're not on 10G, you could give ASM a spin.

regardless, ext3 w/journaling is not a good choice if you want the best performance... RAW is great, OCFS is good too (my favorite, although you probably wouldn't use that unless you're playing with RAC).

frank's right that the raid5 advice is nonsense... in fact if you're using software raid (e.g. linux's built-in lvm) then it's going to take CPU away from the DB and probably would hurt your performance. Received on Wed Jun 08 2005 - 17:39:28 CDT
