Thousands of updates shouldn't be a problem for a normal properly tuned
configuration, and a normal, properly developed, app.
If they don't use bind variables everything becomes a whole different
story, in that case your cpu will choke and rocket sky-high.



Given that, scenario 1 is overkill and scenario 2 is a recipe for
disaster if you don't know what you are doing.
