Ok, thanks. The upgrading of the server is not really up to me, but I'll mention it to the people in charge. We have pleanty of servers running 9.2, I think the issue is how much of a pain it'll be.

No haven't tried updating the statistics, to be honest I don't know how to. I did try just rebuilding the indexes but it didn't seem to work. I think you're right, it probably is just one table, but once upon a time someone wrote a script which updates six of them and I'm too lazy to do them individually. It's also one of those annoying problems where the script I run to rebuild tables/indexes doesn't always have the desired affect, so anything I try which doesn't work doesn't mean much!

I'll try getting the server upgraded. I guess I was hoping to get a reply stating that someone had exactly this problem running 8.1.7.0, maybe I was hoping for too much!
