We can never be sure. But given his attitude in this newsgroup and the fact that we since didn't hear from him, he might well have been.

OTOH, shortly after that news message was reported, I found this document: <quote>
Dr. Amjad Daoud is the founder of Stanford Information Technology Corporation with worldwide offices and headquartered in Sunnyvale, California in the heart of Silicon Valley. He is a Senior Manager with Tera Knowledge Systems, Inc and the architect of OMLET (a family of Oracle 9i/8i Monitoring Applications, OMLET PDA Edition, and Applets). He has worked for Western Atlas International, Western Geophysical, Digital, Oracle, EMC, American Airlines Sabre Group, and Network Appliance Corporation.

Dr. Daoud has over 25 years of technical experience including 15 years of UNIX systems administration and 10 years of Oracle database administration and performance tuning. His extensive background and experience also includes access methods (perfect hashing, order preserving perfect hashing, b-trees, transactional systems, randomized algorithms, technical architecture and systems integration, network design and administration, software development and project managemen </quote>

Now, being 33 Years and having 25 years of technical experience (note that the paper has a copyright 1999-2001, so this is an at least 4 year old information, so he actually started out with 4) doesn't sound that likely to be the same person. But wait: teraknowledgesystems themself reported his injuries to this group (not that anybody was interested). So this leaves you with the feeling, that someone is reporting false facts - and I for myself consider the 25 years experience as some heavy self promoting, but I can't say for sure.

If it wasn't for the way he was allegedly disabled from participating in this group, I'd say

        'Good riddance'

But I don't feel it appropriate if someone was shot, no matter how much I dislike somebody.
