Some interesting points.

You really do not need more than one ASM on a machine. You can just have a disk group for test and a disk group for production. However, I can see where you might want to test the new version prior to using it in production and if you only have one machine then this becomes an issue. How to test the new version without affecting the current production system?

Item 4 is ironic. Since password files allow "as sysdba" connections to be made remotely, and ASM want a password file, it would seem that ASM would allow remote connections but by default does not. Typical.
