Hello community,
did anyone meet the following phenomenon and got rid of it ? I tried to set up a logical standby database on SUN servers with RDBMS 10.1.0. The servers are miles away (connected via a fancy MPLS network). Both installations are running the same ORACLE version. 1. trial: shutdown primary DB, copy all files to new machine, patch inifiles etc, mount primary, create logical standby controlfile, core dump. :-( 2. trial: pretty much the same, but opened the primary db for read/write. controlfile generated, recovery started on standby db which never finished. Unable to switch into logical standby mode: "DB needs recovery.." . After a while the file of system tablespace is outdated. :-( 3. trial: used 9i method with original controlfiles. No errors. Everything seems to work. Archive logs are transferred, standby db is up and running, but the standby db doesn't proceed them. No changes at any table at all. Nothing. No errors in trace files.

This is what I found out: Every secondary source is copied from oracle's original manuals. And: nobody ever seemed have installed a standby DB after version 8.1.

May someone give a hint ? Thanks a lot
