switchover physical database

hi
I work on oracle 9.2.0.1.0 win 2k
i have a physical standby database...we have implemented it using datagaurd.

i want to perform a switchover..
but when i query my primary db the following query :

sql>select switchover_status from v$database;

SWITCHOVER_STATUS

---

SESSIONS ACTIVE but is't supposed to show me TO STANDBY
