Intriguing problem.

A quick check identified this on Metalink: Note:1005968.6 (update Apr'04) "Oracle Server and Unix Transaction Processing Monitors" which has a minor section (3/4 though) on XA and DBLink. Reading between the lines, and speculating a lot, I get the impression that you might need Oracle's Connection Manager involved (derived from the SQL*Net V2 and MTS comment).

Also Note:33293.1 discusses configuring XA.
