!!!FOR THE EXPORT U WANT TO TAKE FROM HIGHER TO LOWER!!!
You must use "exp" and "imp" utilities of 8,0 database to take export from a 9.0.1 database and import into an 8.0 database. You also need to use a connect string or service name for the 9.0.1 database along with the "exp" command. Using a service name for the 8.0 database is optional. You also need to make sure that catexp.sql from Oracle 9.0.1 is run for the 9.0.1 database and catexp.sql from Oracle 8.0 software is run for the 8.0 database before performing export and import respectively. You DO NOT need to run catexp7.sql in these 2 databases.
!!! AS RAuf u are saying that where is the character set issue after
taking proper export and while importing the import engine takes the care of the importing the character set where you are importin into whatever the character set you are present, try doing that and then tell me the errors you are getting.

Best Regards
