What do you mean by 'use' the database? If you mean get access to the data, use tools that manipulate the data etc then you are looking to create an Oracle user and not an Operating system user. If you are looking to let TIGER remove the database and the ORACLE software in arbitrary ways then just make them a member of the relevant os groups. That seems unlikely, so i suggest that you take a look either at the Oracle concepts guide or the 2-day dba book new with 10g available at http://tahiti.oracle.com
