I've noticed this also :

When using Oracle Entreprise Manager from a client machine to connect to a remote oracle 10g database machine, here is what happens at the TCP level :

1- OEM tries to connect to port 1521 on the remote 10g database machine
2- OEM tries to connect to a random port on the remote 10g database machine

If the random port is not accessed then the access to the remote machine is not well established and an error is displayed at the OEM level...
This is strange, isn't it ? Is there any explanation to this ?
