ORA-00060 "deadlock detected" not written to log files

Hi all,
From what I've read ORA-00060 is written to alertSID.log (in BACKGROUND_DUMP_DEST) and trace file (in USER_DUMP_DEST). I don't see Oracle doing that in our environment...Our java apps. pick these errors. Is there a parameter or anything needs to be set for Oracle to write the deadlock error?

RDBMS Version: 9.2.0.4 EE two node RAC
Operating System and Version: Red Hat Linux Advanced Server release 2.1

TIA,
