Agreed 100%. Although from what I recall of marketing, that is precisely what they want to achieve. That way, this vehicle of good information becomes a slugfest and only private, maker-controlled groups are "the go". Happened before, nothing new.

Then when the marketing campaign wanes the maker-controlled groups become terminally boring, and everyone gravitates back to Usenet where the good oil can always be found. It's a cyclical thing.

So let's identify the clear marketing trolls for what they are and ignore them like we always do. It would also help if threads that start non-xposted stayed that way. It's up to each person who replies to do a minimal amount of checking and ensure there is no xposting.

For those who receive their news digested from various groups: tough titties, folks. Try using the Usenet like it was designed to be used, instead of relying on third parties to filter what you see.
